Why is human quotient getting lost?

Running behind life,

Catching up breaths,

Aiming to make more and more,

Are we forgetting less is more?

Wandering between desks,

Staring at our screens,

Struggling with our dreams now bigger,

Are we missing on life’s little treasures?

Boasting of being connected,

Thousands of emails to check,

Hours spent texting and messaging,

I ask,Are we really talking?

Phones talk on dinner tables,

Mental maths has taken a toll,

Gadgets have replaced family values,

The question remains, Are we even caring?

Now eyes don’t meet in person,

Neither is laughter shared in real,

In pursuit of higher Intelligence

Are we ignoring the Human essence?

When humans remain no human,

Technology replaces emotions,

Grannies don’t tell stories any more,

Kids ask questions to “Alexa” more.

I know it all, thanks to Google,

The mind has forgotten to doodle,

Life’s become so dependent,

And we call ourselves independent.

In pursuit of higher IQ

We are loosing the HQ

Hope this stirs some thoughts in you, and helps you to consciously break away some shackles. My husband and I recently visited a friend’s house last week and I was amazed with their no TV policy at home. No gadgets no phones and as a result the family was effective in making real connections and instilling human values in their children.

The children were full of energy, engaged in outdoor play, baked banana cake together, took care of their dog and conversations around dinner table were fun and constructive at the same time.

Now, when you resonate with me on this, do let me know what you do to make your human connections stronger?

I recommend

  1. Sharing hand written letters/ cards
  2. Spending quality time with family
  3. Playing a game together
  4. Engaging in outdoor play
  5. No gadgets in bed policy
  6. No phones around kids
  7. Listening more and talking less
  8. Creative thinking and classes
  9. Visiting an old friend or new
  10. Making real life conversations

As a matter of fact , I have come across a school which asks parents to sign a bond stating that they will treat their smart phones as landlines in the presence of their children else their admission is rejected. Now this is WOW!

Happiness and sunshine 🌼

  2. I really liked this and it is so true, there is getting to be less and less of that real human connection these days and many kids don’t even know what it means now. Great thoughts you have shared.

      1. True, around here it’s now a rare thing to see kids playing outside, they are inside with some kind of screen in front of them.

      2. Totally agree with you , it’s a struggle but I am trying to limit it as much . This involves me spending a lot of my time with kids engaging with them. Some days I can and on others it’s difficult but not impossible 🌼

  16. There is so much truth to this. A powerful message of where we have come since the begining of smart phones, social media and how these have become part of ‘us’ instead of tools to be used WHEN NEEDED. Keep up the great work, I look forward to reading more from you!

  17. I fully agree with you on this. Phones has become a BIG time distraction to the entire world. Its what the devil is using to blind/control the minds of humanity. I have my limitations to where using it is concern and take time to go outdoor and watch at God’s beautiful creations, play with my niece & nephew, cook with them from time to time, paint, run etc. Great post! Let us all on ponder on these things. Blessings to you Nidhi! 🙂 its been a while. Hope you & the family are well!
