As I unpack his suitcase

Now let me describe the scene to you before you head on to reading what follows. My man is on his travel spree and on one occasions he sends his suitcase to me while he is aboard another flight to another destination. It’s been 10 days already and I am unpacking his suitcase.

Unpacking his bag,

I get a whiff of him,

Suddenly my stomach rumbles,

And my throat goes dry.

I pull his wrinkled shirt,

Closer to my body,

And feel his perfume,

Encapsulating me.

Like a larva,

In a chrysalis,

Awaiting maturity,

My wings begin to flutter too.

About to call his name,

I look around,

Hoping to find him,

Sneaking at me, surprise!

Rat-a-tat and there it goes,

Leaving my hands,

Crashing on the floor,

Softly kissing my feet.

Gathering myself I pick it up,

Inhaling him once again,

And with a very heavy heart,

I put it in the laundry bin.

Nidhi

P.S: He said his heart skipped a beat when I texted his my feelings.

I remember this from 30 years ago when my husband traveled for work a lot. I used to love the scent of his clothing as well. Now we are retired and still happy together.
